If you're a Nintendo 3DS fan and have been hoping to see a larger screen, so you can enjoy more of your 3D gaming on the go, then your in luck. Nintendo has just announced the new Nintendo 3DS LL for japan and 3DS XL for US gamers. Come check out the new extra large handheld gaming system from Nintendo.

Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata, has revealed an updated 3DS at today's Nintendo Direct live stream presentation.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL will feature a larger 4.88-inch top stereoscopic 3D display and a 4.18-inch bottom touch screen.

The new sizes of both screens on the 3DS XL will give you about a 90 percent larger viewing area, when compared to the older 3DS’s 3.53-inch top and 3-inch bottom screens.

The 3DS LL will come packaged with a 4GB SD card, to start you off with all your media gaming needs.

In an odd decision from Nintendo, the Japanese and European versions will not come with an AC adapter (no word if it's the same case with the US version). Nintendo most likely did this to keep the price as low as possible. If you already own a 3DS or DSi XL, the same power adapter will be compatible on the new 3DS XL. You will also be able to purchase a new AC cord if you don’t already have one.

The newer and bigger 3DS LL is also said to have a slightly longer battery life, when compared to the older 3DS and DSi XL.

The North America version will be released on August 19 and be renamed to the "Nintendo 3DS XL." The US handheld will cost $199.99 and come in your choice of red or blue. The US version will also include a 4GB SD card in the package.

Its also worth mentioning, that the release date of the 3DS XL matches with the release date of the New Super Mario Bros 2 release date.
