The new HTC Status is available for pre-order from AT&T and will be available at AT&T and Best Buy stores July 17. Most likely people will call it the “Facebook Phone” because of the deep integration with Facebook. The Status has a dedicated Facebook button conveniently placed on the bottom right hand corner of the phone. It was originally named the HTC ChaCha but Now renamed the HTC Status for the US Market.

This is AT&T’s first Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 phone. Some of the features are:

  • A smaller 2.6 inch touch screen, 480×320 pixels
  • 512MB of Ram
  • 800MHz Processor
  • 5 MP main camera and a 1.3 MP VGA front facing camera
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • MicroSD Slot
  • Full QWERTYKeyboard
  • Dedicated Facebook button

A nice feature HTC added was the HTC’s Sense user interface. The HTC Sense is HTC’s way of navigating around an operating system. It works out well in other phones so its expected to work for this phone as well.

The Status is made for Facebook users in mind. It's not a powerhouse Smartphone but instead its made for people that use Facebook for everything. Whatever the user is doing at the moment, whether it be listening to music, looking through pictures, surfing the web, reading the news, it can be posted directly to Facebook by simply pressing the Facebook button in the bottom right corner and your Facebook status will be updated.
