Verizon's jumping on the bandwagon and capping data on smartphones

Both T-Mobile and AT&T already replaced its unlimited data plans, but did it in different ways. Instead of charging for overages, T-Mobile will slow down the speed a customer can send and receive data when the customer goes over the monthly data allowance. On the other hand AT&T introduced a capped data plan that will charge customers when they go over. Now Verizon is the next big phone company to announce they will also be eliminating unlimited data plans.

Verizon will rollout new plans thursday, July 7 with data caps just like AT&T. Customers will now pay between $30 and $80 each month for plans that include 2 to 10GB’s of data. When a customer goes over what they are allowed each month they will be charged $10 for each GB over the plan. Verizon will also offer a pay per use for $1.99 per MB and a small 75MB data plan for $10 a month. 75MB would probably just be enough for Emails. If you're doing more then just strictly reading emails, the 75MB plan is not recommended. Now if your on the Verizon Network and don't have an unlimited data plan I suggest you think about it because after thursday, July 7 you will be out of luck. If you already have an unlimited data plan then you will be grandfathered in until you change your plan. So now it looks like sprint is the only big carrier with an unlimited data plan. Will Sprint also cave in?
