iPhone 5 Might be heading to Sprint, other carriers this coming October

If you're a Sprint customer and have been longing to have an Apple iPhone with Sprint service, your wait might be over this coming up October.

If the Rumors from the Wall Street Journal are true, which they usually are when it comes to iPhone rumors. Apple will launch the new iPhone 5 mid-October and add Sprint to the line up. Sprint being the third largest carrier in the US, would allow Apple to expand its popular iPhone to Sprint’s 52 million plus customers.

Most rumors before had indicated an early October launch for the new iPhone 5, But now WSJ believes Apple will announce the iPhone 5 and also a cheaper iPhone 4, 8GB version in September and release them mid-October.

WSJ reports:

Sprint Nextel Corp. will begin selling the iPhone 5 in mid-October, people familiar with the matter said, closing a huge hole in the No. 3 U.S. carrier's lineup and giving Apple Inc. another channel for selling its popular phone.

The timing, however, indicates Apple's new iPhone will hit the market later than expected and too late to contribute to sales in the company's fiscal fourth quarter, which ends in September. Most observers had expected the device to arrive next month.
